On a Positive Note

Two positive things after my last depressing post:

1) I have befriended the girl who works the deli at the grocery store near me. She is just sweetness, all the time, and she loves Mateo. We go through a little routine where he waves at her and smiles and of course she doesn't like that at all. This last time when we went, though, she said, "Can I also just say something? You look great. I would have never known you had a baby -- let alone such a young one."

2) These are my calming evenings after work nowadays. Yes, I have a hole in my sock.

I love watching Mateo figuring shit out.

Also: in eighteen years, I see him auditioning for Stomp.

He is SO clever! It's amazing watching little kids doing stuff like that, you can practically see the cogs in his head going round.

(not literally)

hi, i've been lurking and not commenting for a while, too, and i just wanted to say you've kept marching down the highway like a trouper. it will get better. you wouldn't be human if you didn't get a little shakey after the enormous amount of ground you've covered.
are there cute mom play groups looking for members in craigslist? good way to find a lot of moral support. also i think there are straight up support groups for single moms, tho i'd check them out pretty carefully.
you're already over the big stuff. and the little man is adorable. there certainly is a nice good supportive man in your future. i promise.

what a charmer. my first and only is 3.5 months and it makes me look forward to the future so much, watching your little one.

you're obviously doing Mateo right!

haha adorable. I remember the pots and pans stage. That was fun!

How would Mateo like a drum set for his birthday? And how would you like it?
