I consider myself fortunate in that I don't have a lot of habits. I don't smoke, I don't drink excessively (and at the moment, not at all), hell, I even kicked the caffeine.
But lately, I've developed a full-scale addiction. It appears that after seven years sans television, I have discovered the beauty of "24." I might have just watched 19 of the first 24 hours sometime over the last 72 hours. That is way, way too many hours of "24" hours.
Yet every time I swear it's going to be the last episode I watch for a day or two, they stick on that cliffhanger ending. And damn if I don't catch myself watching the next one. I always watch them around 10 at night, when I am too tired to do anything else but not yet tired enough for sleep. But you know, since I watch them on my computer, I have to watch them sitting up, and eventually I get so nervous and wound up that I don't even get in bed until sometime past midnight. That's enough room for 2, possibly 3 (commercial-free) episodes.
So I am sorry for those of you living in 2007, apparently I am still in 2001, season 1. Can I just ask you: Why can't the Serbian brothers just speak in their own language, as opposed to fake-accented English? And also, when are Rick and Kim going to get it on? And finally, is Jack ever going to eat?
I hear the show goes downhill at some point. I really hope it does, because I've got four more seasons stretching out before me like the great beyond. And frankly, that's scary. Somebody tell me I can rest after these first 24 hours are over and done with.
I feel your pain!!! I too *JUST* started watching the first season of 24 on Friday night, and i have already seen 12 hours of it. The first night I stayed up until 4am waching the first 6 shows, promising every time an hour ended that the next one would be the last. I'm trying to limit myself to 2 a day now - we'll see how that goes. I have no self control!
A friend just lent me season one of Prison Break, so I know exactly how you feel. It's just totally sucking me in!
I think I watched the 4400 season 2 box set in two days.
I watched the first season of 24,then had to go cold turkey. I joined a support group and have been clean since season 1, unfortunatel I slipped when I started watching the 1st season of Prison Break. 20 hour and $30 in late fees later I'm again ready to admit I have a problem.
We were like this with Six Feet Under and then Desperate Housewives and Heroes. But now that we've caught up with the US, we're watching an episode once a week and my life has gone back to normal. We do this because French television sucks. I liked 24 until it went down hill... but you've still got a little ways to go before you get there. :)
We have been watcing the 5th season...i haven't seen the others but we are totally addicted. The mystifying thing to me is that every season is totally the same--terrororist conspiracy that happens over the course of one day, Jack gets himself into horribly ridiculous situations every hour and then gets out of them-, eventually finding the terrorist and uncovering govermental plots-and it is still the most popular tv show ever made, and I am addicted. He never eats, and the foreign terrorists never speak anything but accented english. Quite a phenomenon, really.
hey,
i was in france last year and it was dreadful not having access to great North American tv... I had to download it onto my computer - which was terrible... BUT, i discovered that some people put them on websites like dailymotion.com or gofish.com (or sometimes even youtube BUT youtube is much harder to get to bc they went all Nazi and started to put them down...)
POINT BEING: go check those website out. AND, see my new-all time favourite show, HEROES. best thing ever.
www.alluc.org --> that's a website where they link you to sites were videos are streamed.
tooodles!
hope this helps in your N-American television watching
