It's embarrassing when you go out to dinner with friends and the food doesn't sit well with you. And you go to the bathroom, come back, pay the bill, walk out of the restaurant, get to the metro, and announce, "I have to go back to the restaurant. For the bathroom."
I'm not speaking from personal experience, but I bet it would suck.
And on that note, I've had to order some allergy tests. Some people think my unusual health problems are all related to some rather unusual food allergies. Let's pray they come back negative, mmkay? Otherwise, bread is pretty much out of the picture for me, and nobody wants that besides Dr Atkins and his psycho cult followers. I understand doing it for weight loss - ie a determined amount of time - but for life? Ugh.
No bread? Ugh, I wouldn't handle that one well. Are we talking celiac disease here? As in, gluten allergy? My aunt has it and does fine with gluten-free bread etc, but sadly it doesn't taste quite the same.
Ah, Lottie, you've found it! Yes, gluten intolerance. I would like to keep the gluten around, but if it's the culprit, it's the culprit.
:(
Are the French very gluten-free friendly? Can you find such products?
I live in the world of the Wacko Diet "I can't have wheat!" "I can't have refined sugar!" "I can't have Yellow Dye number 9!". And it can be done. There are TONS of gluten-free stuff 'round here.
Srah: Yeah, not so hip to the no gluten thing around here. Not so hip to the whole not eating cream, butter, bread, and more butter thing, either.
Kari: Yes, oh how I long for a Wild Oats or some such. The closest thing to that here is Naturalia, but it is very small and overpriced. Very, very small.
