CMB and Dean

I am so excited that Carol Mossley-Braun joined the Dean campaign. I've always been really impressed by her in debates, and I'm crossing my fingers that if The Big Ifs work out (IF Dean wins the primaries, IF Dean wins the presidency), then CMB will have a place in Dean's administration. A lot of people are suggesting CMB for VP, and I think that would kick the ass off your donkey.

I can't believe how excited I am for the Iowa caucases. I don't know if I am more into the elections because I live abroad (I was really into the 2000 elections, too, but not this early in the game... and arguably the situation did get a lot of attention throughout the world) or because I'm getting older (I still haven't voted in an election!) or just because this election seems particularly important to me (we gotta get that idiot outta the White House), but it's really interesting to learn about how elections function while taking part in a campaign. I know all the candidates, their voices, their haircuts, and their stances on the big issues.

And even though Dean may be a tough pill to swallow for some people, I think the other candidates would be eaten alive by Bush come November. Dean seems to be the only one who wouldn't be afraid to smack that bitch back in his place. And frankly, I think that's what the country needs right now. My heart already skips a beat at the thought of a Bush/Dean debate, because, seriously now, Bush would get trampled.

And what is this about spending federal money to sway people into marriage? That's the kind of nonsense I don't want to see in Washington anymore.

I hear yoou about the marriage thing . In fact, about the ONLY thing I've agreed with the current administration on was invading Iraq. Man, I cannot wait to try and get Bush out of office. We don't need Taliban Jr. here in the U.S. That being said, I'm not a big Dean fan, either.

Frankly, I feel screwed in this election. I love me some Liebermana, but no way is sthat happening. Dean has a chance to beat Bush, as does Clark. And even though it appears that Bush has the election sewn up, so did it appear that Dean had Iowa on lock, and now it just isn't so. Miracles happen!

Here's to hoping we miraculously get de-Bushed in 2004!
Cheers!

Yep. I think it's good though that it's close- I like Dean, but we need competition to get the cream of the crop.
Sigh, I don't think Bush will lose the election. There are just too many deluded Americans out there who like having a bumbling cowboy as prez. Don't get me wrong, I'm voting. But I'm just not sure it'll happen the way I wish it would.
I've heard Hilary will almost definitely run next time- that gives me shivers of excitement.

Scotty - I doubt you're the only one who feels screwed. Lieberman could never beat Bush... I agree that Clark may be able to pull that off, but I'm still going with Howie on this.

Claire - I agree, though. Too many deluded Americans. I just don't know any of them personally (thankfully).

Have you also heard the conspiracy theory that the Clintons are supporting Clark because they know he'll lose, and they want Hilary's chances in '08 to be top-notch?

OH! I'd LOVE it if Hillary ran! She would make a great president. Not sure I buy the conspiracy, though. If we suffer through another 4 years of Bush, we may all be forced to genefluct before court.

Sorry to disagree with you (but that's what makes politics politics), but I'm glad Dean got TROUNCED in Iowa. Not a big Kerry fan, but I think Edwards would make a GREAT president. He's bold on foreign policy, but not to the point of alienating every "Old Europe" nation, and his domestic policies would be far more favorable to my sensibilities than would, say, Prince George's.

Dean has made his entire platform akin to "Bush is evil and I will be opposite of him in every way." Like it or not, Bush has done some good in the world, despite himself. Look at Libya, who is now fully open for nuclear inspections, and Iran, which is warming. Fact is: force works sometimes, and always has and will. It's just a fact of a scary world.

I can't get behind a total "Bush=Hitler" approach to campaigning and political discourse. It's no better than the way the conservatives cast about the term "femi-nazis." It's cheapening true evil in place of constructive debate. I'm not accusing anyone HERE of doing that (on this site), but it's something that I've felt Dean and many of those in the Dean culture of support have operated (witness MoveON.org).

HILLARY 2008! That just warms my insides to a toasty golden brown! Love it!

I used to think that I was Republican, naturally since most of my family is, but then I grew up. Dean has no chance of beating Bush, you can't win an election by screaming, "You suck, you suck!!" and nothing else. Dean probably would be better, but trying to win the Democratic ticket by saying Bush is bad won't go anywhere, you don't have to convince any Democrat that Bush is bad. You need to show that you are better than the other canidates, that is why Dean is watching his chance slip away from him.

I personally like Clark. He may not have political experience but he is smart and Europe friendly. The Europe friendly is important to me for foreign policy. His intelect means that he can think through situations instead of making threats and promises then explaining and correcting them later. I am American (U.S., have to be careful about that in Latin America) I am tired of explaining my governments actions to everybody, it is embarassing at times.

I think it would be smarter for Hilary to be a V.P. first. Sadly, I don't think that U.S. is ready for female president, they haven't matured enough. Hopefully we will soon though.
