A friend of mine, H, has a friend named J who has two young boys. J and her husband recently decided that they were limiting the family to four. H asked J if she was at all sad that the decision would mean she wasn't going to have a girl.
J looked at her and said, "I always thought I wanted one. But then I realized, boys are so much less stressful than girls. I mean, with my boys, I have two penises to worry about. But if I had a girl, I'd have thousands."
Nothing to do with genitalia, male or otherwise i'm afraid, just a suggestion for the reading list - if you haven't already, read l'estranger (the outsider) by Albert Camus in any language you like. Also, i think i may be becoming a regular reader of this blog...watch this space...
Lottie - Keep swinging by...I love that you drop comments from time to time.
I read Camus' "LEtranger" last year, actually. Or maybe it was two years ago. Time flies, I don't know anymore. Regardless, I thought it was great, but even better because I managed to read it in French, which I had had a hard time doing before I finished that book. Got any other suggestions?
well, you've already read my favourite, i capture the castle...read jane eyre too, if you haven't yet. (charlotte bronte)
BWAH. I'm sorry, that "penises" comment cracked me up. I've heard it the other way--"this way I only have to worry about two girls getting pregnant."
