100 Things

100. It is 10.22 on a Monday morning and I still have not gone to bed.

99. I am a girl and 5'10...some argue that I am 5'11.

98. That makes it hard for me to buy pants (not the argument, the height).

97. It is especially difficult in France, where the women are all the size of pins.

96. My sister is three (or so) inches taller than me, though, so I don't feel I have a right to complain. Hell, if I were three inches less, I would be just an inch or two taller than the average woman.

95. I overuse the words "funky" and "groovy."

94. I avoid using exclamation points!

93. I have very bad eyesight.

92. My entire family wears glasses (except my sister and brother-in-law because they got the laser surgery)

91. I have worn glasses since I was seven, and contacts since I was 12.

90. I think I am pretty laid-back.

89. But I can still stress out over stupid shit sometimes.

88. I think I am very straightforward.

87. I am very loyal to real friends.

86. People usually like my handwriting.

85. Yes, I believe in naming household objects.

87. I live with my boyfriend in a one-bedroom apartment in Paris.

86. It came furnished with ugly furniture, and now we are stuck with it.

85. I suppose that beats wasting money on home furnishings.

84. We did, however, invest in a new bed when we realized that the fold-out couch that we had been sleeping on before was entirely broken. Turns out, the frame was shot and the mattress had just been resting on all the crap I had shoved under the bed.

83. My chronic back problems have since calmed considerably.

82. I have a lot of piercings.

81. But I don't think you would necessarily describe me as "really pierced."

80. I tried to keep the addiction to a minimum. Hence, the only facial piercing I have is my nose.

79. I have eight others.

78. None of them are in 'dirty' places.

77. Get your mind out of that gutter.

76. I like clutter.

75. This is something I have come to realize only recently

74. My grandma has a great recipe for "mudhens" - they're better than they sound.

73. I used to drive a pink car.

72. Paris would be the absolute best place to live in the entire world if only it had lightning bugs.

71. People describe me as "down to earth."

70. I don't know where the hell they came up with that one.

69. I used to drink coffee every morning but for some reason the Boyf and I just stopped.

68. The coffee machine has since been sitting on the floor of my kitchen next to my fridge.

67. Speaking of my kitchen, it is very very small.

66. As a matter of fact, it has no cupboards (if you don't count the mini-sized ones under the oven).

65. My stove is electric and the fridge is of the half-sized variety.

64. This is because to live in Paris, you have to make sacrifices.

63. The kitchen is the first to go when it comes to quality lodging.

62. I love to play cards.

61. I get that from my family. That's what we do when we're together.

60. I think family card-playing beats the pants off of family-sitting-around-the-tv-ing.

59. My brother can do those Rubix (sp?) cube things. I'm friggin' jealous of him for that.

58. I love champagne.

57. I am not super-organized, but I am not a total mess either. I am one of those lived-in types. I believe in leaving a shirt or two out. Or a sock on the floor.

56. But I always make the bed.

55. And I can't sleep if there are dishes in the sink.

54. And any sort of paperwork is always very organized.

53. I've heard before that an organized mind has a messy physical world and a disorganized mind has an organized physical world. I don't know where that puts me.

52. 'They' say women are lighter sleepers than men. I have yet to meet a woman who would argue to the contrary.

51. My boyfriend talks about computers in his sleep.

50. I speak in English and in French in mine. And I speak Nonsense, too.

49. I love game shows.

48. I don't watch TV though. Actually, right now, Jezebel and Alfred (the plants) are covering the TV and have been doing so for several months.

47. Once when I was sixteen, my best friend and I went driving around in our bikinis in the wintertime. Just, you know, because.

46. I'm on the left of the political spectrum.

45. I am constantly cold. Hands and feet especially.

44. This is not because I smoke, because I don't.

43. I love cashews.

42. I hate math.

41. My mom can cook a mean lasagna.

40. When I moved to France, I brought two medium-sized suitcases. One was for my clothes, and the other was for my music.

39. Don't insult Michael Jackson around me.

38. I drink several Chai teas a week at Columbus Cafe. I think they put something questionable in it. Something addictive

37. A while back, I had repeated fainting spells.

36. I went to a doctor, who sent me to another, who...etc until you reach seven doctors total.

35.Turns out, I have something where I can't process salt and so therefore I can't retain water, and sometimes my body freaks out and thinks it's dying so it sends all this blood to my head and down I go.

34. I could take anti-depressants for it, or the natural method is to drink an insane amount of water and eat a lot of salty foods.

33. I don't like salty foods.

32. The doctors say this is usually the case for people with this condition.

31. But I prefer salty foods to unnecessary medication.

30. I love to learn about grammar.

29. My dad writes really witty Christmas letters.

28. My favorite types of music are, in order, funk, soul, hip hop, disco, jazz, and general 60's/70's pop (the Beatles, etc.).

27. Most of my pants are bellbottoms. Not flare leg, but bell-bottoms.

26. I started wearing them when I was in the musical 'Hair' when I was 16. They were so comfortable I realized that I had just been missing out for so many years. Lo and behold, they became fashionable shortly thereafter.

25. I still stick to the fact that I began wearing them for non-fashion related reasons, and was wearing them before the fashion really took over.

24. Regardless, I am going to continue wearing them even when they are no longer 'in.'

23.I think I have slightly psychic tendancies.

22. I am not a fru-fru nut, I just vibe things sometimes.

21. I match the majority of the tendencies used to typically describe Librans.

20. I read a lot.

19. When I was fifteen, I went out for Chinese with my parents. We got fortune cookies at the end of the meal, as usual. My fortune said, 'Your dearest wish will come true.' I still don't know what my dearest wish is, but I have carried around that fortune with me for over seven years now.

18. I went to college for two years in California.

17. While living there, I worked as a waitress in a hippie restaurant. People said the restaurant was haunted.

16.It mysteriously burned down on New Year's Eve of 1998.

15. Everyone blames the ghost.

14. One of my lifetime goals is to be at least tri-lingual, if not more.

13. I am working on my third language right now (Spanish).

12. I once ran a half-marathon.

11. I swear some day I'll double it.

10. I am incapable of keeping my hands still when I talk. Especially in French.

9. Recently, I have done a lot of flying. In airplanes.

8. I often hear my mom in me when I laugh.

7. At the time of writing this (January 7), I have been blogging for three months.

6. I taught myself how to do all of it.

5. I'm all about projects.

4. I am self-concious in a bikini.

3. I had a kick-ass dollhouse when I was a tyke.

2. I talk too much.

1. I'm spent.
